Before coming to Bilkent she taught part time in London, Leeds and St Andrews. Sandrine Berg\u00e8s works on the history of moral and political philosophy, ancient (Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics), Medieval (Heloise, Christine de Pizan), early modern (Cavendish) and Eighteenth Century (Wollstonecraft, Sophie de Grouchy, Marie-Jeanne Roland, Olympe de Gouges). She also works on contemporary social and political philosophy, with an emphasis on the capability approach and feminism. Her book publications<\/a> are Liberty in Their Names: The Women Philosophers of the French Revolution<\/em> (Bloomsbury), Olympe de Gouges<\/em> (Cambridge University Press), Wollstonecraft\u2019s A Vindication of the Rights of Women<\/em> (Routledge), A Feminist Perspective on Virtue Ethics<\/em> (Palgrave Macmillan), Plato on Virtue and the Laws<\/em> (Continuum), as well as the co-edited volumes The Social and Political Philosophy of Mary Wollstonecraft<\/em> (Oxford University Press, with Alan Coffee<\/span>), Women Philosophers on Autonomy<\/em> (Routledge, with Alberto Siani), and The Wollstonecraftian Mind<\/em> (Routledge, with Alan Coffee and Eileen Hunt<\/span>). In 2019 she she <\/span>translated <\/span><\/span>and co-edited (with Eric Schliesser)<\/span> Sophie de Grouchy’s Letters on Sympathy<\/em> (Oxford University Press). In addition, she has a number of articles<\/a> in journals such as <\/span><\/span>The Monist<\/span><\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/span>Journal of Applied Philosophy<\/span><\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/span>Utilitas<\/span><\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/span>British<\/span><\/span> Journal for the History of Philosophy<\/span><\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/span>Hypatia<\/span><\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>Ethical Theory and Moral Practice<\/span><\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n She is a member of Project Vox <\/a> and the New Narratives Project<\/a> international groups striving to reintroduce important texts by women philosophers into teaching and research. In addition, she is the co-founder of the Turkish-European Network for the Study of Women Philosophers<\/a> and of SWIP-TR<\/a>.<\/p>\n In September 2022 she received an Emma Goldman Snowball award<\/a> from the the Flax Foundation<\/a>.
