Doctoral candidates are required to publish in an internationally recognized journal before they defend their thesis. The language of instruction for all aspects of the Program is English.<\/li>\n<li>All&nbsp;successful applicants will receive a <strong>comprehensive scholarship<\/strong>: tuition waiver (i.e. there are no tuition costs), discounted campus housing, private health insurance, monthly meal tickets, and a monthly stipend.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to the above the department will also provide doctoral students with funding to present at international conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Our research focuses on the central areas of analytic philosophy, especially metaphysics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and social and political philosophy. We also have strengths in the history of philosophy, especially ancient philosophy and early modern philosophy.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants from <strong><em>all<\/em><\/strong> disciplines are encouraged to <a href=\"http:\/\/w3.bilkent.edu.tr\/bilkent\/gradstudents\/philosophy\/\">apply<\/a>. Although an undergraduate or master&#8217;s degree in philosophy is preferred, it is not a strict prerequisite for applying to the program.
