This interdisciplinary <a href=\"https:\/\/stars.bilkent.edu.tr\/homepage\/curriculum.php?DEPT=HART\">Minor<\/a> allows you to examine antiquity through multiple lenses\u2014combining textual analysis with material culture to understand the ancient Mediterranean in its full context.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"4\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">What you will explore<\/b><\/p><ul data-path-to-node=\"5\"><li><p data-path-to-node=\"5,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Literature &amp; Epic Storytelling:<\/b> Engaging foundational classical texts, poetry, and theater.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"5,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Archaeology &amp; Material Culture:<\/b> Uncovering history through surviving artifacts, architecture, and physical ruins.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"5,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">History &amp; Political Thought:<\/b> Tracing the rise and fall of ancient states and the evolution of political power.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"5,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Philosophical Traditions:<\/b> Investigating the intellectual foundations that defined Western thought.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Minor draws on the combined expertise of faculty from the <a href=\"https:\/\/arkeo.bilkent.edu.tr\/\"><strong>Department of Archaeology<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phil.bilkent.edu.tr\/\"><strong>Department of Philosophy<\/strong><\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/web2.bilkent.edu.tr\/cci\/\"><strong>Program in Cultures, Civilizations &amp; Ideas<\/strong><\/a>. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to explore the ancient world not only through texts and ideas, but also through objects, historical evidence, and the societies in which they emerged.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The program is open to students from all departments, and <strong>no prerequisite courses are required<\/strong>.<\/p><h3>Admission &amp; Application<\/h3><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">For information about admission requirements, please <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.bilkent.edu.tr\/bilkent\/minor-programs\/\">visit the Minor Programs page<\/a>.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>Application deadline for Spring 2027:<\/strong> December 16, 2026<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Application forms should be submitted to the <strong>Department of Archaeology<\/strong>, either by email or in person. <strong>Please remember to include a copy of your latest transcript.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Note for philosophy students<\/strong>:\u00a0Philosophy Majors cannot enroll in this Minor because one of its required courses is also a required course in the Philosophy major.
