About
Esther Goh Hui Fen joined the department in 2026 after completing her PhD at Rutgers University earlier that same year. Her research lies at the intersection of epistemology and ethics, with a focus on how our cognitive lives are shaped by the duties and expectations that arise within our social relationships. Her current work explores and articulates what these duties and expectations demand from us, when they arise and when they are discharged, and how they interact with other normative considerations (such as moral and epistemic ones). Her work has been published in journals including Synthese and Epistemology and Philosophy of Science. Outside of philosophy, she enjoys weightlifting, cooking fusion food, and tackling a wide range of DIY projects.
