About the course

This is a two-part course (PHIL299 and PHIL399) to be taken in the summer breaks of the second and third years. Its main objective is to experience a non-academic organization and reflect on how the skills they have acquired as philosophy students may be transferred to a professional setting.

Students may choose any professional organization, subject to departmental approval, but we suggest the following are especially suitable: think-tanks, human rights organizations, NGOs, charities, marketing and advertisement companies, law firms, newspapers, magazines, broadcasting companies, publishing houses, etc.

At the end of their work experience, students should submit a written report.

Credit units: none

Prerequisite: Ethics (PHIL202)
